Our name, Taedong (pronounced "teh-dong"), is more than just a reference to the Taedong River flowing through Pyongyang—it carries a deeper philosophical meaning. Taedong is the Korean rendering of the Chinese concept Datong (大同), or the Great Unity—an ideal of universal harmony where people live in peace, cooperation, and mutual understanding.
